About Phone Dox

Documentary films sometimes cannot wait for production meetings, pitching forums, public call results and complex filming plans. Some stories have to be recorded with the camera lens here and now, some filmmakers find it challenging and inspiring to “attack a story” independently, and some are only just beginning so camera availability is pivotal for their development. Technological progress of cinematographic equipment has been a great ally of documentary film. For the second consecutive year we invited documentary filmmakers to submit their short documentaries made by a cell phone to the Phone Dox competition. This is their way to paying tribute to documentary practice and their contribution to the 10th anniversary of International Documentary Film Festival ZagrebDox. Five works we considered most successful will be presented in the Phone Dox selection.
