Miha Čelar

Director and producer

Miha Čelar is a Slovenian director and producer born in Ljubljana in 1970. He is based in Slovenia where he runs the documentary production company, Astral Film. His filmography includes the production of several larger television programs and series for national and commercial TV stations, as well as award-winning medium-length partly animated documentary film Tatjana in Motherland (2014) and fiction feature film Amir (2002). iIsland is his second transmedia project and it was presented as a case study at the 2018 ZagrebDox Pro program.

Talal Derki

Director

Talal Derki was born in Damascus and is based in Berlin since 2014. He studied film directing in Athens and worked as an assistant director for many feature lm productions. His feature documentary Return To Homs (2013, screened at 2014 ZagrebDox) has won the Sundance Film Festival’s World Cinema Grand Jury Prize in 2014. That same year, he was also a member of the international Jury at IDFA. This year he again takes top doc prize at Sundance with his lm Of Fathers and Sons (2017) that will be screened at this year’s ZagrebDox International Competition.

Ognjen Glavonić

Director

Ognjen Glavonić, born in 1985, Yugoslavia, graduated Film and TV Directing at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts, Belgrade. His mid-length documentary Živan Makes a Punk Festival (2014) was screened at Rotterdam, Cinéma du Réel, IndieLisboa, CPH:DOX, among others. Depth Two, which premiered at Berlinale Forum in 2016, is his first feature-length documentary. So far, it has been screened at more than 50 festivals, winning 20 awards, including the main awards at the Festival dei Popoli, Open City Documentary Festival, Dokufest, Kasseler Dokfest, Message to Men, and ZagrebDox where it won the Big Stamp Award for Best Film in Regional Competition. He is the director and co-founder of Pančevo Film Festival (Serbia).

Boban Jevtić

Boban Јevtić graduated in dramaturgy from the Faculty of Drama Arts in Belgrade and completed a course in Management in Culture in 2002. He was the programmer for the BELEF theatre festival 2007 and is a regular theatre critic at the NIN weekly. He has received awards for theatre criticism at the 58th Sterijino pozorje, for his critical text Empty Recitation. He was the film editor of Dom Omladine in Belgrade from 2005 to 2015. He is the vice-president of the Screenwriters Association of Serbia and the director of Film Center Serbia since 2015.

Boris Mitić

Director

Boris Mitić was born in 1977 in Leskovac, Serbia and currently lives in Zagreb. He worked for some of the most prominent media for several years before deciding to pursue documentary filmmaking. His four documentaries (In Praise of Nothing, Goodbye, How are you?, Unmik Titanik, and Pretty Dyana) have screened at over 200 festivals, received 25 awards and aired at 20 international TV stations. He teaches ‘real-politics’ of documentary film in Europe, America, Asia and online, and writes satirical columns for magazines Playboy and DOX.

Eva Mulvad

Director

Eva Mulvad, born 1972, is a Danish documentary lm director. She graduated from the National Film School of Denmark in 2001. Eva is a director of documentaries for DR TV since 1997. In 2006 she received IDFA Silver Wolf Award and World Cinema Jury Prize at Sundance for Enemies of Happiness. She also was a winner of the 2006 Women in Film and TV award for young film talents. The Good Life (2010) was shown at IDFA and won the award for Best Documentary at Karlovy Vary IFF. Her film A Modern Man (2017) premiered at CPH:DOX.

Jovana Nikolić

Jovana Nikolić is the main producerof multi-winning documentary films, The Undertaker (2013), The Caviar Connection (2008) and National Park (2006), all three premiered at IDFA. She is a founding member of DokSerbia, the Association of Documentary Filmmakers of Serbia, where she served in 2017 as the President of the Board. Holds a PhD from the Faculty of Dramatic Art in Belgrade, with a focus on the management and production of documentary films in conditions unfavourable for cultural development. An EAVE and Berlinale Talents alumna.

Alex Sterian

Teaching cinematography as a senior lecturer at UNATC I L Caragiale Bucharest since 2009. As DoP he has made over a dozen feature films which have been selected for major film festivals: Cannes, Berlin, Locarno, Clermont Ferrand, Florida, Cottbus, Valencia. In 1994 he graduated magna cum laude from a BA cinematography programme and has since then worked on feature films, music videos and commercials. Since joining the Sony ICE program he has been part of the training programmes at Sony Pinewood Centre, and holds workshops and masterclasses in association with major industry companies: Sony, ARRI Cameras and Lighting, Cooke optics, RED Weapon. President of the Romanian Society of Cinematographers since 2008.

Mila Turajlić

Director

Mila Turajlić was born in 1979 in Belgrade, Serbia. She studied Politics and International Relations and Media and Communications at the London School of Economics, and Film and TV Production at the national lm school in Belgrade. She has directed short flms La vie des morts (2003), Neotihuacan (2006), Fara Nume (2009), and Passages (16), and the feature documentary Cinema Komunisto (2010) that won her 16 awards.

Biljana Tutorov

Director

Biljana Tutorov first studied Art History in Belgium, then Film Anthropology at École Pratique des Hautes Études in Paris, and Ethnographic Film with Jean Rouch. In parallel, she studied Drama at École Internationale de Thêatre Jacque Lecoq. Biljana is the author of several video installations, short, feature and documentary films, video works and performances. She was the first assistant director to the famous Serbian film director Želimir Žilnik. In 2010 she founded an independent film production, Wake Up Films, with an idea to produce creative documentaries, animation and fiction films. She is a member of the DOKSerbia, EDN, EWA and EURODOC. Her last feature documentary film When Pigs Come premiered at Sarajevo Film Festival 2017, where it received the EDN Talent Grant.

Anna Zamecka

Director

Anna Zamecka is a film director who lives and works in Warsaw, Poland. She studied Journalism, Anthropology and Photography in Warsaw and Copenhagen. She completed the Dok Pro Documentary Programme at Wajda School. Her feature documentary debut Communion (2016) was the opening film of last year’s ZagrebDox, where it screened in International Competition. The film subsequently had a very successful festival run, winning numerous awards, including the European Film Award for Best Documentary.
