Retrospective of Danish Documentaries

Words

Jens Loftager

When you’re not managing to say everything you want to say in one try, come up with a concept of a film triangle, that is, a trilogy, in which you can cover everything your heart desires. ‘Words’ is a side of Loftger’s triangle; the other two sides are ‘War’ and ‘Faith’. Exploring the power of words - having in mind where they took Salman Rusdhie, Václav Havel, and other “comrades in trouble” of theirs - the documentary studies and celebrates words as a medium of reality, their unbounded allure and how dangerous a tool they can become in a political struggle, poetry, prose, love statements... The aforementioned company is joined by other prominent writers such as Günter Wallraff, Joseph Brodski, Julia* Llamazares, Aziz Nesin, Paul Auster, Villy Sørensen and Maria Vargas Llosa.
