Everything about the matches of FC Barcelona is more than just a sport. The ups and downs of this club serve as reliable indicators of the situation in the region of Catalonia. It is July 2003 and a new team has taken the helm of the club: it is headed by an aspiring lawyer, Joan Laport, and dot.com millionaires as new managers. Their ‘mission impossible’ is to get the club out from financial straits (EUR 250 million of debt) and to pull it out from lethargy. The documentarist crew of this TV film was in the center of events in the club in Laport’s first season, when his work was under scrutiny and the match against Real Madrid was about to take place.
Daniel Hernandez and Justin Webster are producers. In ‘FC Barcelona Confidential’, the former is the director, and the latter is both the director and narrator.
