Slavik is a former World Champion in Latin American Dance. He is about to make his final comeback as a professional dancer with his partner and lover Anna. Slavik is addicted to the limelight and the dance. His body, however, is causing him aches and pains and his flaring temper puts his relationship with Anna at risk. Ballroom Dancer follows Slavik and Anna as they put everything on the line in their ultimate push for the throne one last time.
Andreas Koefoed was born in Copenhagen in 1979 and graduated as a documentary director from The National Film School of Denmark in 2009, and in sociology from Copenhagen University in 2004. He has directed documentary films since 2001 with a focus on universal stories on human existence, including The Lost Leonardo, Ballroom Dancer, The Arms Drop and At Home In The World. His films have screened and won numerous awards at festivals around the world including IDFA, CPH:DOX, Full Frame, AFI Docs, Sheffield Doc Fest or Tribeca.
Christian Bonke was born in 1973, Denmark. A graduate of the National Film School of Denmark, 2005, and in multimedia design, 1994. Films include ‘Between Peaks’ (2004), ‘First Love’ (2007), and ‘Real Estate’ (2008). ‘Ballroom Dancer’, selected for IDFA’s First Appearance Competition, is Bonke’s first feature-length documentary and co-directed with Andreas Koefoed.
