Film follows a young, homeless couple (Rico and Starr), struggling to survive on the streets of Hollywood. Throughout the film, they confront various pitfalls that accompany homelessness: the constant search for shelter/food, dealing with living in a relentlessly chaotic environment, the struggle to maintain dignity. The story of this film centers around how they confront one of the biggest challenges of their lives - an unexpected pregnancy. 'Broken Doors' is about Rico and Starr’s struggle to survive and attempt to rise above their circumstances.
Goro Toshima is an award winning fi lmmaker of documentary short films and cinematographer. His short films ‘A Hard Straight’ and ‘Broken Doors’ received many awards at international film festivals and screened at numerous festivals throughout the U.S. and Europe. As a cinematographer, Goro’s work has aired on HBO, PBS, the Sundance Channel and Bravo. Goro received a Masters Degree in Documentary Film Production at Stanford University.
