An intimate portrait of Yemen as the revolution unfolds, told through the eyes of tour guide leader Kais, an intelligent commentator on the changing times of Yemen, offering poignant moments of reflection, loss, anger and hope on the unknown road to revolution. Filmed over the course of the year with exceptional access to a country where no other camera crews or journalists were allowed to remain.
Sean McAllister is an award-winning British documentary filmmaker. Since 1996 he has been making films for the BBC, Channel 4, and NHK; working in the UK, Israel, Iraq, Japan, the Yemen, and most recently Syria. His films Enemy (1997) and Minders (1998) were both nominated for Royal Television Society Awards. In 2005 Sean McAllister won the Special Jury Prize for World Documentary at The Sundance Film Festival, for his film The Liberace of Baghdad. His films portray, with characteristic intimacy and frankness, people from different parts of the world who are struggling to survive but are survivors, caught up in political and personal conflict.
