The SXGlobal Texan audience award is the fourth in the row of important awards for this film, directed by Carlo Zoratti, which portrays wryly a piece of life of an autistic person.

The film Special Need by Carlo Zoratti has won the Audience Award in the SXGlobal category of the South by Southwest film festival that took place 7-15 March in Austin (Texas).

The documentary about an autistic 29-year-old man Enea who in the company of two friends goes on a search across Europe for his first sexual experience was shown in 10 ZagrebDox’s Regional Competition and awarded with the Small Stamp for best film by a filmmaker under 35 years of age.

Special Need is a film in which the director managed to portray a piece of life of an autistic person but without even a slightest touch of bad taste. With humour, easy-goingness and sensibility for the protagonist, it reveals the universal need of human beings – to be loved, said the explanation of ZagrebDox's Young Jury.

The film had previously won the Golden Dove for best German film at DokLeipzig and Alpe Adria Cinema for best documentary at Trieste Film Festival. The list of all the award-winning films of SXSW is available on this link.
