"Happiness" Wins Award in Sheffield

Thomas Balmès’s film about the arrival of television into the life of a boy from Bhutan thrilled the Youth Jury of Sheffield Doc/Fest and won a special mention.

The documentary film directed by Thomas Balmès has won the Youth Jury’s special mention at Sheffiled Doc/Fest, which took place 7-12 June 2014.

This French-Finnish film was screened in the Happy Dox section at ZagrebDox 2014, and at Sundance Film Festival it earned an award for cinematography. Happiness portrays the changes that happen in the life of an eight-year-old monk from the village of Laya in Bhutan spurned by the arrival of television.
