May 7th, 2012. The day after the Greek elections leaves the nation ungovernable as the county's two major parties, PASOK (Socialists) and New Democracy (Conservatives) see their scores crumble down. In what seems as an end of a political era, one party emerges: Syriza (Radical Left), as its traditional score (4%) practicaly quadruplicates. New elections must be held whithin a month. Hope on the Line follows closely Syriza's president Alexis Tsipras during a whole year, starting from the decisive campaign for the June 2012 elections until the shutdown of the Hellenic public broadcasting corporation (ERT) in June 2013. It sheds light on Tsipras' personality, his political views and ambitions. Within the political turmoil, Greek citizens try to get answers to their fundamental and dramatic questioning. The very status of the country is in sake, its place in Europe, its future and destiny.
