In 2013 Russia passed a law against "promoting homosexuality" to young people.

Young gays and lesbians became an "error of the system" and their bullying was authorised at the highest state levels. The Children 404 website established by Elena Klimova publishes messages from young people who are the victims of brutal attacks due to their sexual orientation. The filmmakers gave some of these children cameras in order to record their lives. The video journals interspersed with interviews present a chilling picture of contemporary Russia. While in Russia Klimova faces persecution, and the police breaks up screenings of Children 404, the film keeps receiving standing ovations at the prestigious film festivals.
