Director Petya Nakova
Petya Nakova is a Bulgarian director and scriptwriter. In 2010, she graduated from New Bulgarian University as a film director. She worked as a scriptwriter for a talk show on the subject of human rights and freedoms, and as a director of short films. In 2012, she published her first book The Preacher and the Black Horse, a documentary investigation into the life of a protestant pastor during the time of communism. Her feature debut documentary film – with co-director Nina Pehlivanova – Rom Quixote (2013) was developed under the BDC program and selected for several festivals in 2013 such as: Cottbus Film Festival, Millenium International Documentary Film Festival (Belgium), Bulgarian documentary and animation festival Golden Rhyton.
Producer Katya Trichkova
Katya Trichkova graduated in law and film and TV directing. In 2009 she became a founder and manager of Contrast Films – a production company based in Sofia, focusing on supporting independent film and theatre productions. Her recent filmography includes The Judgment (2014, feature), directed by Stephan Komandarev, a co-production with Germany, Macedonia and Croatia,which was Bulgarian official entry for Oscar 2015, and the winner of more than 10 national and international awards; Chain (2014, short fiction), directed by Eicke Bettinga (Germany), a co-production with France and Germany.
