09.02.2017.

A trip around the world in eight days with over 120 documentaries

ZagrebDox, the most important regional festival dedicated to documentary film, traditionally takes place in Zagreb late in February and early in March. From Sunday, 26 February to Sunday, 5 March, Kaptol Boutique Cinema will screen over 120 interesting and exciting documentary stories from all over the world. A rich festival line-up of the 13th edition was presented at the press conference on Thursday, 9 February by the festival director Nenad Puhovski, producer Lucija Parać, and Sanja Milinović, manager of the Department for Direct Market Access at the Croatian Telecom, the festival's general sponsor.

The 13th ZagrebDox international competition includes 21 documentary films. Each year, several titles arriving to Zagreb have already garnered prestigious awards or nominations. A total of 21 documentary films are competing for the Big Stamp in the regional competition, this year including nine Croatian titles.

Aside from the official competiton, ZagrebDox includes a series of popular official sections: Biography Dox, Musical Globe, Happy Dox, Controversial Dox, Masters of Dox, State of Affairs, Teen Dox and ADU Dox. Other special sections are also interesting: Mothers and Daughters feature four films on the subject of the ever intriguing relationships between different generations of women in the same family, and the 65+ Series includes three films in a serial dedicated to daily lives of senior citizens. The platform ZagrebDoXXL this year again features many roundtables, panels and expanded Q&A sessions and, as part of special events, the visitors will get a chance to enjoy a series virtual reality screenings in association with the Croatian Telecom and Samsung. ZagrebDox also hosts two retrospectives – one is dedicated to the Austrian director Nikolaus Geyrhalter and the other to the Factum production company.

ZagrebDox Pro, a section of the festival dedicated to professionals, is again organising preparatory workshops for chosen creative documentary projects at different stages of development and production, a pitching forum presenting each project to the public, potential funders and distributers, and an International Collaboration Day, making it possible for documentary experts from all over the world, project teams and other film professionals to connect and network.

Thanks to this good collaboration with the ZagrebDox team, documentary fans unable to attend the festival will get a chance to enjoy bits of atmosphere from their homes across Croatia. MAXtv users will get an exclusive sneak peek to the ZagrebDox titles Facebookistan, Monty Python and Life, Animated, as well as Becoming Zlatan, available after their last festival screening.

The ticket price is 23 kuna for day screenings and 28 kuna for evening shows. The Teen Dox section tickets will be sold at a price of 18 kuna. Traditionally, after the festival closing and the award ceremony, The Best of Fest show tickets, on Sunday, 5 March, will be sold as a package at a price of 40 kuna, showing all the award-winning films. At this year's ZagrebDox, day shows screening international and regional competition entries are free of charge.

As always, ZagrebDox is organised with the support of the City of Zagreb and Croatian Audiovisual Centre, and ZagrebDox Pro with the support of Creative Europe – MEDIA Sub-programme. General sponsor of ZagrebDox is Croatian Telecom.
