Georgi and the Butterflies

Andrey Paounov

Dr Georgi Lulchev is a psychiatrist, neurologist and manager of Bulgarian psychiatric institution located in a former 16th-century-monastery near Sofia. In the country where almost 80 percent of the population live in poverty, he is persistent in trying to establish a farm where the inmates will grow snails and produce silk and soy beans. However, fifteen years have passed and his progressive ideas have not been recognized. For all this time, this little community, both the patients and staff, have been living in harmony. Optimistic Dr Lulchev is not giving up; he regularly plays lottery, always using security numbers of his patients. It is a story of one man and his dream.
