Imaginary Academy Documentary Film Retrospective

The Years of Rust

Andrej Korovljev
Screening time
28.02. / Thursday, 16:00 - 18:00 Theatre 2
A story about workers at the Uljanik shipyard in Pula whose difficult and dangerous job is to apply anti-corrosion protection to ship metal.

The combination of dust, rust, poisonous gases, inhuman conditions and long hours without rest breaks has slowly turned these workers into disillusioned working machines. Hidden behind the mask of privatisation, shameless exploitation has fully deprived them of pride and dignity. At the Days of Croatian Film 2000 the film won the Best Documentary Film Award, Jelena Rajković Award for best newcomer and Best Editing Award. Film was screened at more than twenty national and international film festivals.
