Dead Body Welcome is based on a true story about the journey filmmaker Kees Brienen undertook to see the phenomenon of the total solar eclipse. Upon arrival in India he finds out his best friend Ritchy had passed away. The trip suddenly becomes a search for a dead body, trying to understand and accept what had happened to him. Kees finds his friend up in the mountains, does what he needs to do, discovering new perspectives on friendship.

Kees Brienen

Kees Brienen, born 1968 in The Netherlands, studied film at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. At the same time he started organising film events and other programmes focusing on new media and developments in the language of the moving image, e.g. for the International Film Festival Rotterdam. After making experimental shorts, Dead Body Welcome is his first full-length feature. Filmography: Dead Body Welcome (2013), I Love You So Much Daddy... (2006), I Love You So...
