Paul Giger, violinist of world renown, is arranging his work Karma Shadub for a performance in the cathedral of St.Gallen; it is the work he composed at the occasion of his son’s birth 30 years earlier. Ramòn films, searching for the person behind the musician, the father by whom he feels abandoned. The reasons for their estrangement have never been talked about. A portrait of a father-son relationship, a personal film about separation and self-discovery – quite simply, about becoming an adult.

Ramòn Giger

Ramòn Giger was born in 1982 in in Speicher, Switzerland. He attended the Schule für Gestaltung Basel. Completing his civil service in a home for disabled people, Giger got to know his future protagonist, the autistic Roman. They made the documentary A Still Jacket (2010). In 2010, he photographed the feature film Off Beat by Jan Gassmann. In 2013 they made Karma Shadub. Giger lives and works in Basel, Switzerland.

Jan Gassmann

Jan Gassmann was born in 1983 in Zurich, Switzerland and began filmmaking with the film collective VideoGang. He studies documentary film directing at the HFF (Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film) Munich. He is known for Karma Shadub (2013), Off Beat (2011) and Chris (2007).
