With the intimacy of a personal diary, filmmaker Nina films her friend Julia, a Swedish/Danish artist and poet, and their beautiful friendship. Shot over a period of a few years, this is a sincere portrait of two young women struggling with addiction, self-hatred and identity crises. Julia&I aims to be a gentle reminder to those who are in pain that suffering is part of life. One step at a time, things will come together and what is least expected will make sense and feel meaningful. Nina Hobert created a raw, poetic and transparent film with the intimacy of a personal diary, where the feeling of being lost plays both a painful and a beautiful part of life.
Nina Hobert is a Swedish multidisciplinary artist who works as a filmmaker, composer, author, and photographer. She has directed numerous short films and music videos and has contributed to various international magazines with her photography and writing. Julia&I is her first documentary.
