Regional Competition

Sebastian Mihăilescu graduated top of his class from a Bachelor’s Degree and, subsequently, from a Master’s Degree in Film Directing from the National University of Theatre and Film Bucharest. He has directed three short fiction films and his latest, his final Master’s film, Old Luxurious Flat Located in an Ultra-Central, Desirable Neighborhood premiered at Locarno International Film Festival in 2016 - Pardi di Domani Competition. It was screened at MoMA, Film Lincoln Center in New York and many international film festivals. During his studies, Sebastian worked as an Assistant Director for Radu Jude’s Aferim! (2015, Silver Bear in Berlinale) and for Radu Muntean’s One Floor Below (2015, premiered in Un Certain Regard at Cannes). Also, during studies, he was selected as an up-and-coming film director in the Talents Sarajevo programme and he started directing commercials. Recently, he has made documentary feature film You Are Ceausescu to Me.
