Director

Metod Pevec was born in 1958 in Ljubljana. He is a film director and screenwriter, novelist and actor. He graduated in Philosophy and Comparative Literature at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana. Before receiving the degree at the Faculty of Arts, he appeared as an actor in numerous Slovenian and Yugoslav films, while his most prominent role was as the protagonist in the film See You in the Next War by director Živojin Pavlović. Kristian Novak was born in 1979 in Baden-Baden, Germany. He graduated in Croatian and German Language and Literature from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb, and in 2011 received his PhD in Linguistics from the same institution. In 2005, he started working as a research fellow at the faculty’s Department of German Studies, and in 2012 transferred to the Department of Croatian studies at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Rijeka, where he is currently an Assistant Professor. He is also the Chair for Croatian Language. He is the author of three award-winning novels – The Hanged (Insula, 2005), Dark Mother Earth (winner of tportal Award for Best Novel, adapted for stage and a film adaptation on the way), and Gipsy, Yet so Handsome (winner of tportal Award, as well as national awards Gjalski and Fran Galović, adapted for stage).

Journalist and Editor at the Information Media Service of Croatian Radiotelevision

Maja Sever was born in Zagreb in 1971. After completing a culture-oriented secondary school, she studied Journalism at the Faculty of Political Science in Zagreb. During her studies, she worked on the Children’s Programme at Channel 3 of the Croatian Radiotelevision. In September of 1991, she started covering the war in Croatia. She was a war correspondent, reporting from all active fronts in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. After the war, she graduated from university and continued working for the News Desk, where she created journalistic pieces and was the editor of daily news and other daily current events programs, such as Dnevnik and Hrvatska uživo. She has participated in many large projects of the Croatian Television. She is an active member of the Trade Union of Croatian Journalists and the Croatian Journalists’ Association.
